But a bit more nimble steering would reduce the weighty feel in the wheel.

I had a 2008 for escape xlt v6 4wd and it was fantastic. Now that i have seen the 2009 Ford Escape I am truly in love and I am going to buy one this year or maybe wait for the 2010 model to come out so I can see how ford improved this automobile. Good luck ford I dont think you can make it any better without going way up on the price.

Though they may eventually lose out to other technologies, more diesel motors are coming to the U.S. The next generation Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec Sedan will be available in all 50 states when the 2010 model arrives in 2009. This fall, Mercedes also plans to offer the Bluetec system in the U.S. on all its sport utility vehicles.
So we partnered with Lin and Steven Austin of Orange County Rod and Custom in Placentia, California, built the truck and hoped our little Greasel would break the land speed record. The build, done over a few weeks time, took a derelict 1987 Chevrolet pickup truck, stretched the chassis, dropped in a Detroit Diesel engine, added two turbochargers and then converted the whole thing to run on peanut oil. Peanut Oil!
The end result is a truck with more than 3,000 horsepower and about 4,000 lb-ft of torque. In fact, it has so much power; they had to mount 747 airplane tires on the rig. To say it was a monumental undertaking would be an understatement. If you stopped by the shop over those few weeks, you would have noticed that Steve and Lin looked more and more exhausted as the days and weeks went on. Was it worth it? I would have to say, yes.

WILNER HOWARD cars engines from today => On paper, the 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 looks like it's everything it aspires to be, and our test numbers for the V-8, gleaned at Hyundai's R&D center in Korea, support that. The results include a 0-to-60-mph time of 5.6 seconds, a quarter-mile performance of 14.1 seconds at 103 mph, a skidpad figure of 0.86 g, and a 70-mph-to-standstill brak�ing distance of 169 feet. That puts the Gen�esis in with the lofty company it aspires to compare with. Hyundai claims the V-6 should be about a half-second slower to 60 mph. Our brief driving impression revealed well-controlled drive motions, predictable handling, and an excellent powertrain. We'll need more time behind the wheel to be sure, but all signs point toward a well-tuned chassis.Howard Wilner is not sug�gesting banishing that 5-series just yet, as the Genesis is tuned more for Lexus-like isolation than BMW-like involvement. And that, at least ideologically, is one of the few minor shortcomings of the Genesis. Lexus makes fine cars, to be sure, but the Ger�mans and Infiniti have more to offer in the fun-to-drive category.
First Impressions from 2008 BMW X5 4.8i. I actually had quite a few first impressions. �Oh my God, it�s gorgeous.� �Wow, I get to drive a BMW!�. �This is a really BIG vehicle!�, but nothing compares to actually driving one. The X5 4.8i has a snarling 350-horsepower V8 engine, yet it�s stylish, technologically advanced, sexy and has some really great features. At first I thought it was snarling at me (it sounded like it was growling when accelerating), but I found it was actually snarling at the other cars on the road. �Pass me, I dare you.�

The 2009 Subaru Tribeca should see no major changes following its freshening for the 2008 model year. This midsize SUV has seating for five or seven in base and uplevel Limited models. Maximum towing capacity is 3500 lb with available towing package, 2000 lb without. A six-speed automatic is standard for 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser. It shifts ably most of the time, but it occasionally dallies in a higher gear before downshifting on the highway. Activating the transmission's Power mode � accomplished via a button near the center console � produces more decisive downshifts, which make passing maneuvers rather effortless. Like most automatics with a performance mode, however, the extra power likely comes at the expense of gas mileage. Around town, anyone short of a complete leadfoot can probably make do without it. HOWARD WILNER 2009 Chicago Auto Show => That's a long way from diesel engines of yore. They were balky, noisy, nasty smelling and polluted the air not only with noxious fumes but sooty particulates as well.In fact, the diesels deliver such enormous torque, or low-rpm twisting force, that they feel more powerful off the line than their gasoline-engine counterparts. For example, the V6 diesel in the ML320 has 210 horsepower and 398 pounds-feet of torque. Its ML350 gasoline counterpart has 268 horsepower but 258 pounds-feet of torque.
The MiTo makes the rest of Alfa's mainstream lineup - handsome, well-admired cars all - look a bit staid. But one wonders if the MiTo is overstyled. MiTo buyers can customize their cars endlessly, choosing among ten shades of paint, fourteen finishes for the headlight and taillight surrounds (shiny or satin chrome, opaque black and titanium gray, plus the ten body shades), and five styles of sixteen-inch to eighteen-inch wheels. Two versions of red paint are available: the traditional nonmetallic Alfa Red and a lighter Giulietta red, yet another reminder of Alfa Romeo's past.

The idea behind this system is that the steering ratio should be relatively slow on-center to reduce dartiness, but should quicken as you turn the wheel further. Rather than going the BMW Active Steering route, which uses a computer to control the constantly varying steering ratio, Mercedes chose the right route: the Porsche way. In place of complex actuators, pumps, and computers, the Mercedes system requires no additional parts - the rack is designed to change to a quicker ratio after a certain amount of lock.
The legend is real. The 2009 Nissan GT-R, the car known to many as the Nissan Skyline in Japan, can run as fast as the fastest Porsche. It handles as well as the most agile Lamborghini. HOWARD WILNER hybrid cars => The G8 also impresses inside, especially considering the plasticky depths to which Pontiac interiors had previously sunk. There are still too many hard surfaces, but the center stack -- save for a couple cheesy Atari-grade digital readouts at the top -- is more than a little reminiscent of Audi's industry-leading efforts. Passenger room is plentiful, particularly in back, where all but the largest riders will have space to spare. The rear center seat isn't so hospitable, however, as the wide center tunnel necessitated by the G8's rear-drive layout essentially eliminates legroom there.

Driving Impressions from 2008 BMW 335i Sedan.Though slotted between the base 328i and hot rod M3, the 335i has a special sport suspension and incredible twin-turbo six cylinder that is flat out fast; faster than the last generation M3. It�s something of a sleeper hot rod. When I got the keys, I was excited to drive the car but worried because it was bright, crimson red with 300 hp and a 6-speed manual transmission. Standard AWD take offs from 0 help you save big money on tires which you'll need for gas, but, this vehicle is so rewarding that you won't mind spending the gas money. I highly highly highly recommend. Its going to be hard for me to ever part with this vehicle. Sports cars a great, but, SUV's that accelerate, handle, break, corner and drive better in the wet than virtually all other Suv's make it harder to justify buying a pure sports car especially when you can run at 130 + MPH side by side with your friends 06 Chevy Corvette, but don't take my word for it, BUY an FX45. It will come standard with two power sliding doors with power windows. The 2.3L Duratec is surprisingly quick, though a bit throaty. From what I've read, it's pretty highly regarded, and I'm pleased with it overall. The only problem is the gear-hunting from the 4-speed automatic when going over hills and mountains. That's to be expected in a 4-cylinder automatic in a fairly large vehicle. But for daily driving, it's wonderful. The CD4E automatic transmission has had some past issues, but from what I've seen and read, they're mostly in the past. With reasonable driving style and proper routine maintenance, I think it will do just fine.

The result? The Moraine plant will be turning off its lights and the Orion plant will be keeping them on longer as it gains a third shift. Better to produce cars -- no matter how long it takes -- than too many SUVs. Within the General Motors fold, for example, its Moraine, Ohio plant was ranked second in its overall efficiency of production. Its Orion Township Michigan plant, in comparison, takes staggering 65% longer to make a car when compared to the best, ranking it last in overall efficiency.

Yet this V8 isn't a dual-overhead cam engine like those found in Cadillac's other sedans. Mercedes says it can rev freely over 7000 rpm. The engine sends its power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission that can be shifted manually via the gearshift or steering wheel paddles. The transmission has a rev-matching feature that blips the throttle on downshifts. Mercedes says the C63 will be capable of a 4.3-second 0-60 mph sprint.
The 2.3L Duratec is surprisingly quick, though a bit throaty. From what I've read, it's pretty highly regarded, and I'm pleased with it overall. The only problem is the gear-hunting from the 4-speed automatic when going over hills and mountains. That's to be expected in a 4-cylinder automatic in a fairly large vehicle. But for daily driving, it's wonderful. The CD4E automatic transmission has had some past issues, but from what I've seen and read, they're mostly in the past. The winner, to be named at the end of February, will get to see a full-scale model of the car built by Peugeot and debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Microsoft will also make the winning car a "drivable" car for one of its Xbox 360 video games.

In the last 17 years, no vehicle in America outsold the Ford F-150 on a monthly or yearly basis�not once. In May of this year, however, Honda moved more Civics and Accords and Toyota more Corollas and Camrys than Ford�s best-seller. This shift has less to do with a change in Americans� vehicular preferences than the fact that trucks guzzle fuel, the cost of which has doubled in the last three years.( HoWard Wilner produce cars)

Better Handling than a G35 Coupe I speak from experience because I used to own one for 2 years. The versatility of a Hatchback and SUV. One of the most superior AWD systems on the market. I've tried to derail this vehicle while trying to corner in the rain and its unbelievable that a vehicle can do the things it does. Easily handle speeds in excess of 100MPH, this vehicle just inspires confidence in the wet or dry. Doesn't get as dirty from daily driving due to its elevated stance. Technology package is a must and this vehicle is a keeper. You'll never touch your car keys again, just open the door and start your beastly engine.
